Palindromes
Dinner Topics took a little New Year’s break to recharge the creative batteries, but we are back are ready to keep you informed on what you need to know. One topic I missed but can’t let pass us up is palindromes.
Depending on how you write the date, last Saturday was considered to have a palindrome for a date. If you subscribe to the mm/dd/yyyy method, Saturday was 01/02/2010. A palindrome is a word or phrase spelled the same backwards as it is forwards. Look closely at the date: 01022010. For nerds like me, that’s very exciting.
The next time you get into a discussion about palindromes (and for many of you, the next time might be your first time), bust out this list of some of my favorites:
- racecar
- Hannah
- I prefer pi
- Go hang a salami; I’m a lasagna hog!
- A man, a plan, a canal, Panama
