Record Setting Celtic Pride

Garnett hopes to hoist another one of these in '09

If you come from a family of sports fans, there’s a good chance that some NBA might be on the tube on Christmas Day.  Among the many games scheduled is the feature game pitting the Lakers against the Celtics.  While the Lakers have been dominant in their own right, the real story of the NBA this year is Boston’s record-breaking run: they have won 19 in a row (a franchise record) and have a record of 27-2, well on pace to break the single season record of 72-10, held by the ’95-’96 Chicago Bulls.

If you need to throw some stats around the dinner table, tell the family that 27-2 is the best record ever after 29 games in the NBA and the Celtics are on pace to finish 76-6.  So as not to sound foolish, also mention that there’s no way they will finish 76-6 and you suspect Chicago’s record is safe.  Bonus points if you mention that the Cleveland Cavaliers (with LeBron James and… no one else) are currently 24-4 and haven’t lost at home yet.
