ND student dies from video tower collapse
One sad story leading headlines this morning involves a Notre Dame student, Declan Sullivan, falling to his death from a video tower which collapsed due to extremely high winds in South Bend Wednesday. Sullivan was videotaping Notre Dame’s football practice from an aerial perspective, a common practice with most major colleges.
One interesting thing to note if the topic arises is that Sullivan was well aware of the dangerous winds based on several tweets, jokingly stating that “I guess I’ve lived long enough” in one of them.1 It’s a haunting statement for the tragedy that occurred shortly afterward.
After the mourning period subsides, expect a full investigation into why Sullivan was allowed to be in the tower with the high winds as the family and the University will likely attempt to find out the chain of events that led to this terrible incident.
