NBA – neverending season begins tonight
Sports are going to be heavy in the news this week with the NBA season starting tonight and the World Series beginning tomorrow. That’s right, the NBA tips off tonight and will continue throughout the winter, throughout the spring, and will end just around the time you are making your Fourth of July plans. If you are not a basketball fan, here are a few basic notes you should know heading into the season:
- The Lakers (last year’s champs) are still considered the favorites this year.
- Shaq is now on the Cavaliers alongside LeBron James, giving Clevelanders some title hopes.
- Blake Griffin of the Clippers, last year’s #1 draft pick, broke his kneecap the other day and is expected to miss at least 6 weeks. If you know anything about the history of the LA Clippers, you will know that this is hardly unexpected.
- A lot of people are picking the Washington Wizards to surprise teams in the East with the return of Gilbert Arenas (“Agent Zero”) and others. I’m not buying it.
If you want to fit in during an NBA conversation this week, you can’t go wrong in suggesting a Finals matchup between the Lakers and either the Celtics or the Cavaliers.
