New meaning to four weddings and a funeral

The champagne fountain is located just to the left of the tombstones. Help yourself!

The story is weeks old and isn’t the typical kind of post you’d find here, but I found it too interesting not to pass on.  If nothing else, it makes for great dinner conversation which is the main point of this site.  USA Today ran a story a couple weeks ago about the slow increase in couples choosing to have their wedding ceremonies at the most unusual places: namely funeral homes!  That’s right, the same place you make your vows might be the place you are paying your last respects.  It gives new meaning to those who consider marriage to be a “death sentence.” (rimshot)

In theory, it makes sense: funeral homes are always in need of extra revenue and are subject to the unknown nature of death, meaning a nicely decorated, well-cared for hall might go unused for many days.  In turn, a young couple looking to celebrate their wedding day in a fancy place but on a tight budget won’t be able to afford everything they’re looking for at a typical wedding hall, so they seek alternative measures.  In this instance, the alternative happens to occur at the same place Uncle Joe was laid to rest a few months earlier.

Could YOU get married in a nicely renovated funeral parlor?  How would you feel attending a wedding in a funeral home?  Feel free to post your thoughts in the comments section and make sure to read the story below.

It would have made sense for me, since shortly after the divorces, I realized I was in Heaven.
