National Parks Fee-Free Weekend

Joshua TreeWhen’s the last time you visited a National Park?  The National Park Service is paid for by all of our tax dollars and provides a valuable service in preserving either historically significant locations or natural wonders within all 50 of the United States.  From the soaring beauty of Yosemite National Forest to the quiet solitude of the Lee-Custis Mansion overlooking Arlington National Cemetery, the nation’s National Parks provide a backdrop for family outings, first dates, or just a meet-up with friends!

Over the weekend of August 15-16, the Park Service is even waiving entry fees at approximately 100 of the parks which normally charge a nominal entrance fee.  This special deal has been offered in the past, but this is the last weekend the free special will be available this summer.  Now you have no excuse, so get out there and enjoy these wonderful resources!

YogiIf you are in California, take a look at the tree made famous by U2′s popular album.  Spending a week in Idaho?  Visit the place where Yogi might steal your pic-a-nic basket.  Wait, that’s Jellystone, not Yellowstone.  At the very least, a trip to a National Park will give you something to talk about at your next dinner conversation.
