Pamplona’s bulls like Tipper this year: no “Gore” so far
The famous bull run began in Pamplona, Spain this morning, and for the first go ’round, you’ll be happy to know that no one was gored. Here are a few notes you might not know about the running of the bulls, and you can mention them when you see some idiot brave soul willingly putting himself in harm’s way as you watch it on the late newscast.
- Pamplona’s bull run starts off its San Fermín festival at 8 am every July 7th and another run is made each morning at the same time for a week.
- Six bulls and six steers are released on the street, and they run down an 825-meter stretch, which takes about three minutes.
- You must be over 18 to participate.
- Since 1924, 15 people have died in the event.1
Video of Day 1′s running from 2009 can be seen below.
