Wait… there’s a Coffee Party too?
Dinner Topics has mentioned the Tea Party in a few posts over the past year, usually because a candidate was involved in an upcoming election. What many people may not realize is that there’s a yin to the Tea Party’s yang, namely the Coffee Party. If you consider the Tea Party to be the rightest of the right when it comes to politics, think of the Coffee Party as left of the southpaws.
The noticeable difference between the two parties right now, besides opposing viewpoints, is how “professional politicians” are accepting them. The Tea Party has received support from several key Republican political members including the ultra conservative Sarah Palin. Of course, some of this support has caused a bit of separation from mainstream Republicans.
The Coffee Party, on the other hand, was started as a Facebook page by an activist (Annabel Park) and took off from there, but still hasn’t garnered enough political appeal to help win any primary elections.
Both affiliations appear to be nothing more than sub-parties for extreme viewpoints, but they are in the news more and more thanks to a growing concern for the current and recent political landscape.
