Ted Kennedy passed away last night, and as I’ve said before, Dinner Topics doesn’t try to regurgitate news stories in current events.  There are already plenty of stories on Ted Kennedy hitting the wires already, some talking about his accomplishments, some dealing with his difficulties.  Check out the link below for a great summation of his life, but this post is to quickly educate you on WHO Ted was in relation to the storied Kennedy family.  A quick family tree rundown:

Joseph Patrick Kennedy, a second generation politician and first Chairman of the SEC, and Rose Elizabeth Fitzgerald, daughter of the mayor of Boston, had nine children.  Among them were John F. Kennedy, Eunice Kennedy (mother of Maria Shriver), Robert “Bobby” Kennedy, and Edward “Ted” Kennedy.  The next generation has grown even more, with six of the children having plenty of their own children, including Ted Kennedy’s three and Bobby Kennedy’s ELEVEN!

There are a myriad of details that can be told about Ted Kennedy and his family, but at least you now know how he fits into the Kennedy family history.
