McChrystal’s sudden fame

If you’re not a political or military junkie, you probably never heard of the name General Stanley McChrystal a few days ago, but now you’ve likely stumbled upon it numberous times on the TV or radio. McChrystal is in the news right now because he was interviewed by Rolling Stone magazine and made some disparaging remarks about several White House officials. McChrystal, a U.S. General in the Afghan war, is basically the leader and commander of the U.S. forces inside Afghanistan, as appointed by President Obama.
While being interviewed, McChrystal and his aides were pretty frank about their displeasure with the way Obama and VP Biden have handled things since taking residence in the White House. It’s not news that military and political officials don’t see eye to eye; it’s news that the military chose Rolling Stone magazine to voice its displeasure. Some will support McChrystal for voicing his opinion and standing up for his beliefs. Others will support the President and question what good can come from publicly outing America’s discourse to the masses. Read the article for yourself (it’s a long one), form your own opinion, and have something to talk about tonight! As this post is being published, McChrystal and Obama are meeting to discuss McChrystal’s immediate fate, so by dinner tonight, there should be another chapter to this story.
