Shooting at Fort Hood

The big news to know about today is the shooting rampage which occurred at a military base in Texas yesterday. According to various reports, it is suspected (but not yet confirmed as of this posting) that Nidal Malik Hasan opened fire on the military base and, as a result, 12 soldiers and one civilian are dead with many more wounded.
Hasan worked at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in… psychiatry. Authorities killed the gunman (assumed to be Hasan) — [editor's note: Hasan was shot, not killed - 11/09/09].
Fort Hood is located in the middle of Texas, about 60 miles north of Austin, and “is the only post in the United States that is capable of supporting two full armored divisions.”1
