Olympics – Where is Vancouver?

The Winter Olympics begin this evening in Vancouver, Canada, and Dinner Topics will likely provide a few Olympic-related posts over the next two weeks.  Like it or not, people talk about the Olympics, so we’ll make sure we’ve got you covered.  Today we start with the basics.  Everyone knows Vancouver is in Canada, but where exactly?

Vancouver is located in the province of British Columbia, way the heck south, just 119 miles away from Seattle.  While much of the United States just suffered through some bitter cold and record snowfall, Vancouver is enduring an unfortunate warmfront, making preparations for some of the snow events a bit difficult.  The city, currently ranked as the #1 most livable city1 (whatever that means) is receiving plenty of rain right now, so expect some sloppy skiing.
