Frequently Asked Questions

Why did you create Dinner Topics?

I’m a big sports and business guy but admittedly don’t read enough “front page” news, which means I fall behind when it comes to politics and world news.  The problem escalates when an ongoing story becomes more popular.  Suddenly, I want to read about it but the stories are past the stage of explaining who’s who and it’s impossible to get back on track.  The post about the situation in Gaza is the perfect example of why I created the site.  If you weren’t paying attention in history class and you didn’t read the front page for a few days, suddenly you don’t know if Hamas is a person, a place, the “good guys” or the “bad guys.”  I’m trying to get you back in the loop with the basics.  Then, you can always follow the additional references for the details.

I have an idea for a topic.  Can you put it on your site?

Yes.  Barring time constraints, I will try to post all topics that make sense for the site.  Send an email to michael@dinnertopics.com with your idea.  Put “Dinner Topics Idea” in the subject line.

How can I advertise on your great website?

Send me an email to advertise@dinnertopics.com and I’m sure we can work out a deal.  There is plenty of prime space on the site for you to sell your fine products and services.

How can I tell you what a miserable job you are doing?

You can post a comment in any post you choose.  Ease up on the vulgarity, and it will remain posted, regardless of how much you dislike us.  If you have a comment about the site in general or about any post by “admin,” send an e-mail to michael@dinnertopics.com.  Any comments about posts by “MHogan” can be e-mailed to mhogan@dinnertopics.com.  Want to rail against a post by “SMandarino”?  E-mail him at smandarino@dinnertopics.com.  Comments about posts by “ESmith” can be sent to esmith@dinnertopics.com.  Got something to say to “SLancaster”?  Do it at slancaster@dinnertopics.com.

I would be a perfect fit for this site and I love to write.  How can I be a contributor?

E-mail me at michael@dinnertopics.com and we can discuss if you would be a good fit for the site.  I am looking for writers with the ability to write quickly, professionally, and most importantly, concisely.  Posts should be short and to the point.  Because of the nature of the site, opinions should be at a minimum (“just the facts, ma’am”), but that doesn’t mean your writing can’t have personality.
