Tony Robbins: the annoying motivator/speaker has a show on NBC

The title of this post pretty much says it all. You have seen his face and heard his over-the-top proclamations a million times on late night cable. Tony Robbins is that sometimes-goateed guy with blinding white teeth and a positive attitude that makes the average person wonder “what’s his angle?”
Robbins must do something right, because he has stayed relatively free of controversy and has earned the support of many celebrities. Personally, I find it a bit odd when a man who always needs to be filmed in rooms and gardens nice enough for Adam and Eve to reside in is telling me that happiness isn’t found through material things, but his way of doing things has earned him a nice living… and now a show on NBC, which is why Robbins is topical.
The show is called Breakthrough with Tony Robbins and it is being billed as six one-hour reality type episodes. According to Robbins’ website:
“‘Breakthrough with Tony Robbins’ will feature Robbins guiding participants through complex challenges and personal obstacles that will help them change their lives and redesign their futures.” 1
Premiering tonight on NBC, you can see for yourself if parking it on the couch for an hour while watching others “redesign their futures” is worth it. In the meantime, use this bit of trivia to pass the time: Robbins was born in 1960 on February 29th – a leap baby!
