Movie Overload: Wall Street, Facebook movie and more

The summer blockbusters have pretty much come to an end, and now some of the more intriguing movies are being released in theaters.  Last week, The Town, directed by Ben Affleck, was the box office champ, but this week there are several movies worth knowing about because they will likely be a topic of conversation soon enough.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps is Oliver Stone’s sequel to the 1987 movie Wall Street.  This time around, Michael Douglas reprises his role as greedy Gordon Gekko, but the young “in over his head” protege is played by Shia LaBeouf.  Charlie Sheen makes a cameo, and the early reviews are mixed.

Thanks to some early positive buzz, the likely watercooler winner of the next week will be The Social Network 1 – the movie about Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg.  Written by Aaron Sorkin, most famous for The West Wing (TV)  and A Few Good Men among other hits, the reviews suggest that the movie is not so much a biopic but more of a fast paced version of young people with power, attitude, and brains.

There are other movies debuting this week (including You Again, starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Sigourney Weaver, Betty White and others getting bad early reviews), but the two above are the ones you need to know about right now.
