Mel Gibson: dead, or just his career?
I’m not sure how many Dinner Topics readers like to follow the latest Hollywood gossip, but the publicity that Mel Gibson is getting right now is hard to miss.
This Australian actor’s recent misfortune stems from a leaked recording of Mel Gibson ranting about his ex, Oksana Grigorieva. They had a daughter, Lucia, in October 2009, but they divorced and started a big child custody battle. In the sound clip, he yells at Oksana while also including some racist and sexist comments. The three-and-a-half minute clip can be found here on Radaronline.com. There are even rumors about how Mel Gibson died, but of course, those are not true.
Mel Gibson has had it rough, with much of his troubles of his own undoing. He directed Passion of the Christ, which earned him some trouble for being anti-semitic. His agency dumped him, calling him a liability instead of an asset. A new movie he was working on with Jodie Foster will probably not be released any time soon. His DUI arrest in 2006 also made his ratings drop. It’s hard to imagine how this actor (who starred in the Disney movie Pocahantas, by the way) declined so rapidly.
Whoopi Goldberg spoke out about Mel Gibson, defending his racist comments. However, it’s up to you to decide if Mel Gibson has run into a small bump or if he has jumped the shark forever. Comment below and give your opinion of Mel Gibson’s career.
