Madden NFL 10
If you happen to be around any teenage or college-aged males this weekend, you’d better know about Madden NFL 10. Forcing many stores to stay open until midnight last night, Madden NFL 10 is the latest football video game from EA Sports. Lines formed at many stores to get the game when it finally went on sale at midnight, and there are probably a lot of tired teens and twenty-somethings this morning. Luckily, school doesn’t start for another week or two.
The “10″ in the title refers to the year, not the amount of titles released. I use to play the game way back in college, but it’s still hard to believe that this year’s edition is the 21st year of the video game franchise! For a while, there was thought to be a curse of the Madden cover, in which any player that was featured on the cover had a bad or injury-plagued season the following year. A few websites examined this trend, and while several players suffered injuries, the sample size is was too small to suggest a jinx. This year’s edition features Troy Polamalu and Larry Fitzgerald, so track their progress and make your own assessment.
“Madden” (as we used to call it) is available in virtually every format, but the ones that get the most notice are the versions for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation3 because the consoles are the most technologically sophisticated and therefore can accomodate software that is the most realistic to date. According to the early reviews, gamers will be quite happy with their purchase. As for me, I prefer watching the real thing and getting a good night’s sleep. Check out the video below – the scenes with Jimmy Fallon in the game are worth the wait.
