Hulu – TV Shows, Movies on your Computer

hulu logoContinuing the tech theme this weekend, it’s time to talk about Hulu.  If you aren’t already a user, you may have seen the Super Bowl commercial with Alec Baldwin or recent ads with Denis Leary.  Speaking from experience Hulu (Hulu.com) is one of the best websites on the internet.

Using a very clean interface, Hulu provides computer users with free access to many recent and older TV shows and movies.  The show is “streamed” live, so there is no option to download and watch later.  As for commercials, Hulu splices in short 30-second ads, usually at the beginning, then every 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the show.  It’s a small price to pay for the availability of many viewing choices all in one place.

As someone who watched the entire second season of Friday Night Lights on Hulu, I can honestly say the picture quality is sufficient and for the low cost of “free,” there’s not much to complain about.  While movies are available, Hulu is really more about TV shows.  Wondering about ease of use?  Even my parents watched an episode of Monk on Hulu, so don’t worry about any learning curve.

If you missed Conan’s first Tonight Show, forgot to set the DVR for your weekly fix of One Tree Hill (don’t worry, I won’t tell), or just have a hankerin’ for some Doogie Howser, it’s all on Hulu.

Thanks for the info on hulu – what a great site! They have episodes of my favorite (30 Rock), my old favorite (Newsradio), my old, old favorite (Simon and Simon) and my childhood favorite (Bewitched). Amazing!
(btw – I love this site – my friend told me about it and now I check it daily)
