Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows opens today, with many fans heading out to the multiplexes yesterday for early screenings.  If you haven’t seen the previous movies or read the books by J.K. Rowling, there is nothing I can do to simplify the entire series in one small blog post.  Plus, if you cared that deeply about it, you’d already know all about Harry.  Instead, since the new movie is bound to be a Dinner Topic this weekend regardless of your age group, it’s important to know this:

The current movie reflects the last Harry Potter book, but it is only Part 1! Part 2 is slated for a 2011 release.  I’ve already heard two different radio newscasts mention that this is the last movie, so don’t be fooled – there is one more.  Also, fans shouldn’t worry about getting cheated by paying for two separate short movies: Part 1 clocks in at just under 2 and a half hours.
