Fast & Furious – Didn’t This Movie Already Exist?
When the marketing campaign and TV ads started rolling out about a month ago for the new movie Fast & Furious, my wife and I looked at each other and said “isn’t that already a movie?!” Well, yes and no.
Fast & Furious is the fourth installment of the movie franchise that started with The Fast and the Furious in 2001. That’s right, the new movie has the exact same title as the original movie sans the articles and substituting the word “and” for an ampersand. No, it’s not a remake – just a different movie with an almost identical name. For the record, here are the movies from the franchise starring character Brian O’Connor (played by Paul Walker) and the year each was released:
- The Fast and the Furious (2001)
- 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003)
- The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006) (note: no Paul Walker)
- Fast & Furious (2009)
