Beatles – Always Something New
If you’re a Beatles fan, or know someone in your life who is, you’ll be very happy about these two recent announcements:
1. On 9/9/09, the entire original Beatles catalog is being re-released worldwide, after it was converted from analog to digital. It took four years, but engineers at Abbey Road Studios in London worked on both vintage studio equipment (like what the Beatles used at the time) and state of the art technology (like what is used now), to put it all together. The sound should be amazing; I am already thinking , “Hmmm, possible Christmas gift?” for HoganDad, a big Beatles fan. (Hope HoganDad is not reading this!)
And this is all happening the same day as:
2. “The Beatles: Rock Band” video game is also being released! It looks really cool. You can play through Beatles history starting with their stints in The Cavern Club all the way to their final Roof Top Concert. You will “play on exclusive replicas of the instruments that The Beatles played, including: John Lennon’s Rickenbacker 325 guitar, Sir Paul McCartney’s trademark bass, George Harrison’s Gretsch Duo Jet guitar, and Ringo Starr’s drums with classic black oyster pearl finish and Ludwig-branded Beatles kick drum head.” You can also play the game trailer here:

The Beatles are always a fun topic for dinner table conversations, so pull out this info at your next social gathering!
(editor’s note: As a Beatles fan with very few Beatles CDs/albums, I’m still patiently waiting for the catalog to be released on iTunes. Until then, analog to digital doesn’t cut it for me.)

You’re right. The Beatles are unfortunately still not on Ipod. However, that last article cited above says:
“But here’s something else for conspiracy theorists of a different variety. September 9, 2009, happens to be a Wednesday in early September, and Apple has historically held iPod-related announcements on Tuesdays in early September. If you want to be mega-speculative, consider that there could be an announcement that week that in addition to Rock Band, the Beatles would finally be coming to iTunes. The band’s catalog is currently not legally available for digital download.”
Shrug. Who knows! Time will tell!
