Amazon Kindle 2

While mentioning the unveiling of the new Kindle 2 with coworkers yesterday, it became obvious to me that the Amazon Kindle, despite its perceived popularity, is not well known by the masses.

The Amazon Kindle is an electronic reading device, and the Amazon Kindle 2,  just released Monday, is an updated version of the reading device.  The Kindle uses something called electronic ink (or “e-ink”) with a grey background which is much easier on the eyes than a typical computer screen.

A Kindle 2 can store about 1,500 books in its memory at once, and it is capable of downloading newspapers, certain blogs, and of course, over 230,000 books.  It costs around $359 and new releases can be downloaded (no computer needed) for $9.99.
