iPhone: Unofficially Uncool?

ok, maybe it was never cool...

ok, maybe it was never cool...

As of 12/28/08, Wal-Mart began selling iPhones.  That’s right, after picking up some sweatpants, Cap’N Crunch, and perhaps a couple radial tires, you can load Steve Jobs’ former wonder gadget into your cart.

I’ll leave the snarkiness to the other blogs, but there’s no denying that offering a product at Wal-Mart certainly takes the mystery and luster off of an intriguing gadget.  Knowing the way Apple and Steve Jobs do business, however, look for the “next big thing” to be available shortly, only to be purchased at select Apple stores while Apple reaps the profits from unloading excess inventory of previous models through the largest retail distribution chain in America.  Uncool?  Probably.  Profitable?  Certainly.
